Ten practical answers

Know what happens next.

If your question depends on the device, email its model and a short description rather than guessing from a generic price list.

01What kinds of devices can I enquire about?

Enquiries are welcome for phones, tablets, desktop and laptop computers, game consoles, storage devices, board-level faults and selected general electronics. Suitability depends on the exact device, fault, safety requirements and parts availability.

02Can I get a firm quote by email?

Email can establish the likely category and information needed. A firm quote may require inspection because the same symptom can have several causes and hidden damage may affect the work.

03How long will a repair take?

Turnaround varies with assessment, parts and device condition. Timing is discussed once enough information is available rather than advertised as a fixed promise.

04Can I bring a device to the address without arranging it first?

Please email first. Richards Device Repair does not publish walk-in hours, and the device, timing and handover arrangements should be confirmed before you travel.

05Should I back up my data before repair?

Yes, whenever the device still allows it. Hardware and storage can fail without warning, so no repair process should be treated as a substitute for a current backup.

06What should I do after liquid exposure?

Switch the device off, disconnect power if it is safe to do so, and avoid charging or repeatedly testing it. Email the device model, liquid involved and when the incident occurred.

07Which replacement parts will be used?

Part options depend on the model and supply at the time of the quote. Any material choice that affects the proposed repair should be discussed before approval.

08Is repair work covered by a warranty?

Any warranty applying to a specific repair should be stated with the quote or service information for that job. The website does not advertise a blanket period that may not fit every type of work.

09What happens if the device is not economical to repair?

The information available should be explained so you can compare repair with replacement, specialist service or no further work. Repair is not automatically the best recommendation.

10Where is Richards Device Repair located?

The business address is 674 Argent Street, Broken Hill NSW 2880, Australia. Email before bringing a device to confirm the handover arrangements.
